We are guided by community aspirations, our community member organizations have different traditional land tenure arrangements with various land use and livelihoods including; pastoralism, agro-pastoralism, hunter-gatherers, and fisher folks.

CLAN! was established in 2018 to share knowledge and build solidarity for tackling multiple land and natural resources related issues, in particular formalization of community land rights.

It is estimated that as much as half of the land area of Kenya, over 29 million hectares, are subject to customary ownership. As much as 25% of the population (over 10 million people) live on these lands. Most are pastoralists and agro-pastoralists, but there are also indigenous forest communities and fisher-farmer communities.
